Hermosa Beach is a small beach community, which, along with Manhattan Beach to the north, and Redondo Beach to the south and east, makes up the South Bay. Over the years, Hermosa Beach has become a sort of second home for me, thanks to a sister who moved there nearly 7 years ago. I have done a lot of running there.
Runners have two options (well, there are more, but I doubt anyone really wants to run PCH, it’s a highway):
The Strand is 22 miles of paved path running parallel to the ocean.

Since I am from Seattle, and am surrounded by trail runs, when I visit Hermosa, I want to run as close to the water as possible.

Some of The Strand runs right through the beach. You’re basically running on the beach, but not (meaning you’re not running on sand). You can’t do this in Seattle.

Running through Hermosa Beach and Manhattan Beach, the strand runs parallel to gorgeous homes whose addresses are _____ The Strand. I love running on the Strand here, and daydreaming about living in one of the homes (or all of them). I pick out a new dream house on each run, and dream about living in it the entire run.
This time, this was my dream house:

(If this is your home, I am sorry for stalking, but your home is absolutely gorgeous).
One of these visits I should probably try the Wood Chip Trail, but you really can’t beat the view from The Strand.

Have you visited the South Bay? Where do you like to run?

The hardest part of running on the strand is passing North End bar & grill! Cold beer temptation has taken me down a few times:/
We usually stick to Orange County beaches when we go to that part of the world, but Hermosa looks lovely. And who do I have to kill to get to live in one of those houses?
I have yet to run in Orange County. Where do you run when you visit? Do they have a “strand?”
