I just started reading, “Poser,” a memoir by Claire Dederer. Take one guess what it’s about?
The full title is actually, “Poser. My Life in Twenty-three Yoga Poses.”
The topic of yoga came up at a wedding we attended last week because of my yoga-centric tattoo on my arm.
Conversation evolved from yoga to Seattle and then finally landed on, “Poser.” The women who brought up the book, recommended it, not only because of its yoga focus, but also because the author lives in Seattle. The book is filled with Seattle references. I got very excited about this book. I also really like the title. I am totally a poser.
The book, a memoir, has been loosely compared to Elizabeth Gilbert’s, “Eat, Pray, Love.” (The book, not the film. I loved the book, the movie…not so much.) I read this book during a time in my life where I could relate to pretty much everything Gilbert was going through.
I am going to jump-through (a yoga pose, as well as the title of chapter 24) this book, and will share my review with you when I finish. It could take a week or it could take a year…
Has anyone read Poser?
