The new Brooks Ghost 5 is now available!! My post-Boston, post Color Run Ghost 4′s are feeling a little…used.
It is time for a new pair. A NEW, new pair. A new model. A new color. New, new, new! (also a new, more expensive price, unfortunately. $110 compared to $100 for the Ghost 4). But they’re really, really pretty. And pretty = FAST, right?
And the men’s is handsome, which also = FAST!
What has Brooks done to the new model?
- Lighter weight (10.7 oz for men and 8.8 oz for women)
- Added cushioning
And quoting the Brooks website, “The Ghost 5 is so supremely smooth and impeccably balanced, it’s scary. Brooks took the best of the award-winning Ghost 3 and 4 designs, built in new innovations, and then merged it all with striking colors and patterns. This shoe hits the sweet spot for a wide range of Neutral runners with a finely crafted Caterpillar Crash Pad and anatomical Brooks DNA.”
What is a caterpillar crash pad? I guess it’s on the sole of the shoe, and is literally a place to “crash” your foot when you strike the ground. This is the first time I’ve heard this term. I have a lot to learn about shoes, apparently.
There isn’t much written about the shoe because it’s so new. Be warned, I will have a lot to say when I receive my new shoes.
I am heading out of town Friday, and called my local Road Runner Sports to see if they were in yet. Nope, they’re so new they haven’t even gotten any from Brooks. So, sadly, I won’t be bringing the new pretty pretties with me, and would you believe Brooks is already out of my size in the purple!? The only size they’re out of. They have 15 sizes, including half sizes from size 5 all the way up to 12, and they’re out of MY size. They are getting a new batch in next Friday. Looks like I am going to have to wait. I am not the only one who wants the pretty purples, apparently.
This may be the most excited I have ever been for a new pair of running shoes. They’re so pretty. They kind of remind me of how my shoes look now, only newer…and cleaner, and prettier. Pretty shoes. So pretty.
What shoes do you run in?
I just went to Brooks running to order the Ghost 5 11.5′s…I waited too long! Sold out. Really disappointing.
They’ll get another order in. I am still waiting for the purple, too. Unfortunately, I need a new pair now, so have to go with my second choice blue.
